Our stucco went up about 3 weeks ago and had a time to dry. There are a couple spots way down at the bottom of the building that don’t see the sun, but I’m not worried about those- Summer will take care of that.
There are a few areas (about 1-2 s.f. each) that are appear blotchy white in color. The stucco is Omega brand, olive green color with 2 boxes of color per sack.
Can stucco get that effloressence (sp?) stuff that brick and block walls often get?
The stucco guy says it’s because of rain that bounced off the stucco planks and onto the walls. It’s true that most of the blotches appear right at plank level, but I’m not sure this is the whole story. It rained about two day after he stucco, but not hard at all and the scaffolding was kept up.
Any good ways to correct this? Will it fade and correct itself over time?
Thanks!
Jim

Stucco can show efflouressence (I have no idea how to spell it either) <G>. It is often the result of sand that is not clean, that is, has a lot of salt or dirt in it. If no water is getting behind the stucco this could be a relatively minor problem that your stucco contractor may be able to fix quite easily.
