I bought the studline.
I love it.
Read about it here at BT. Bought it and fell in love.
Pro’s: Speeds up layouts. Especially on interior walls.
Con’s: Walls less than 6′ the line doesn’t stretch enough and the layout will be less than 1/8″ off. Also it is only 30′ long.
All in all it is a fine tool and I will buy a couple more for my other crews to have.

Hi Kyle:
Never used this tool or heard of it until right now by you....got a question for ya;
Is the line graduated in such a manner as to compensate for the first stud being set at the 15-1/4 inch mark on a wall run so that the sheathing will "break" on a stud center...or do you manually manipulate the string to accomplish this?
Can this tool find both 16 inch and 24 inch graduations...or must you purchase 2 seperate tools for this purpose?
What is the cost?
Considering you have to frame a lot of door and window openings with cripple studs, trimmers and such...does this tool actually see much use in these instances?....I would think not, but would like to hear your input.
Thanks.

First, the hook is offset so the first mark starts at 15-1/4"
Second, on the exterior walls we install our headers at the top of the R.O. and block above it. And we will also have blocks on the bottom for windows. So we just pop the layout through the windows and doors and we will have the layout for our blocks to. Sometimes the marks do fall out in the cripples, but since we layout with a sharpie the men don't even notice them.
