Hire someone else next time!!!!....Whenever something goes poorly I look to see what I have done wrong...Why did you hire a problem...If you answer that question honestly, you'll know what not to do next time....Mistakes are life's best lessons...Read Michael Dell's book if you get a chance...He made more money and success by the time he was twenty than I may ever in my whole lifetime...But he's not yet discovered the simple beauty of becoming a monk yet either!!

*Robert:I work for an architect that reminds me of this job. He always hires the cheapest subs, and doesn't care about quality work, honest work. In the last project, he had over 1/2 his subs quit, or jack him up for money. The architect never pays until the job is done and done right. Of the subs that quit, he will sue about 1/2 of those, and glom onto their bond.About 2-3 subs per project sue him, and file mechanics liens on the project. He claims that he is always money ahead, because he got the cheapest price, and sometimes, a sub will almost finish a project, only to walk off, and not file a lien, so he is money ahead on that one.Moral of the story? Hire right. Pay a fair price. Hire for integrity and quality. Or, expect to fool with idiots. This clown your dealing with probably won't tear out the sheet rock. Its too much trouble. He is just desparate. Better luck next time.

Meet the guy. Inspect the job. Pay him. Then forget him. Forget going after him because if he's broke there aren't any assets you can attach.
I hear this all the time. It appears endemic in my area, especially with homeowners (like me) who have small jobs that don't require a contractor.
Always remember things could be worse. He could have been a relative. Then you really couldn't get rid of him, or his bad work.
