I plan to lay carpet in a basement, but want to get some separation between the concrete and the carpet without building a 2 by 4 frame and losing that much headroom. Considering laying 3/4″ rigid insulation and/or 3/4″ t&g plywood, just floating it under the carpet. Which insulation appropriate? Is this a sound approach?
Thanks, Tony

Would the indoor/outdoor carpet be the recommendation for a remodeled garage slab too? I am contemplating commercial berber presently.
