Does anyone have any experience with the new generation of hardwood flooring i. e. veneered or solid material that does not exceed 3/8″ to 1/2″ in thickness. Specifically I am looking for material that can safely be installed directly over existing concrete in a basement. I built the house about 10 years ago so I know that there is a vapor barrier under the slab but don’t know if that is sufficient or if some type of barrier would have to be installed first over the concrete and if so how the hardwood would be secured. They have used a Pergo type product elsewhere in the basement but would prefer real wood in the wine room I am proposing for them. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
