I have a potential customer who has a sunroom with 10 pieces of 32″wide x 8′ long tempered glass in the roof and a wood frame keeping it all up there. The pieces are stacked 5 low and 5 above divided by what looks like a 2x that runs perpindicular to the rafters. It obviously leaks above this 2x that just catches all the water from the 5 upper pieces. The rest of it is poorly detailed also. He would like to re-do it and make it right re-using the existing glass. The weather/waterproofing on the wood “roof” pieces is pitiful and needs to be re-flashed or whatever. Ultimately I will wrap the “frame” with metal but I’m not sure how to detail it. Does anyone have a good resource(book, website, etc.) that might show some good water proofing details for a wood between glass situation like this one? Anything about proper drainage details for sunroom roofs, especially one that may have a frame piece that runs perpindicular to the direction of drainage?

No website to speak of. Call and ask for a catalog. Techs are very good.

There are one or two companies that advertise in FHB all of the time specifically for channels, seals, and hardware for sun room glazing.
