In looking at doing an island with a 15″ overhang (countertop will be 1 1/2″ wood), any suggestions for “invisible” support? If you have a suggestion could you include details on how to do it too?

I don't seee why it would be needed, but if you insist, drill the edge and insert steel rod and then plug the hole. skip the glue tho', the wood needs to be able to shrink and swell.
Weld a brace up and let it into the cabinet rails.

I've done them like Hackinatit showed you and also like this. This one is for granite but you can use it for anything.
when I do them like Hackin I will run an apron(whatever wood the cabs are made of) around the perimeter of that steal.

It's heavier and slightly more expensive than the steel frame above, but 1/2" x 4" or 3/4" x 3" steel strap is pretty stiff. With heavy counter tops simple lengths of the stuff can be placed over the cabinets along the better supported sides with construction adhesive to hold them until the top is on.
For most overhangs that go around a corner I see a simple frame with this stuff to be ideal.
It doesn't effect the look of the overhang or push the total thickness past 1-1/2", is quite stiff, quick to install and relatively inexpensive. Buying it by the full 20' stick saves a bunch.
