I am considering putting a tankless water heater in my personal home, and I am looking for some input. Thanks.

Hey txag! I'm in the middle of a big job right now and my customer is very involved with the work. He's suggested getting a tankless water heater from Aqua Star. It's been bought and I've already put the support backing in the wall as a precautionary measure. He got it from Home Depot and even though I'm not a pro at plumbing, but know more than just the basics, it should go quite smoothly. We've even design it to go in one of the kitchen cabinets ( very small 1 bdr. apt.) After reading the installation instructions ( I'm old school taught, I still read them after 33 yrs. in the trade), and waiting for the A.C. man to get through, I'll be ready to install easily. they have a web site. I think it's aqua star .com or something like that
Actually, Bosch makes both gas and electric tankless water heaters for those not aware of this little fact, and although Lowes stocks the gas unit they can get the electric unit.
LC,
Don't get me wrong - I believe these tankless models are the best thing since sliced bread.
But I'd think long and hard about putting them INSIDE of a kitchen cabinet. If you're dealing with a gas model, ventilation is critical and cannot be compromised. In addition, these boys need combustion air - lots of it.
Don't let Wet Head Warrior get ahold of your post. But maybe he already has and simply can't see straight enough yet to post a response. This is a touchy subject with him.
Good luck.
I have a Heatmaker Mark II by Trainco. It's a direct vent and low voltage natural gas tankless sytem. I've had it for 6 years and it seams to work fine for both me and my wife but I'm not sure how well it'll work when we add another floor and another bath to the house? It seems to be popular with new (1st) homes in the RI area.
good luck with your search, tutrleboy.
