The other day at work we all noticed ( perhaps for the first time) that tape measures have a black diamond at 19 3/16″ and repeating every 19 3/16″. Nobody knows exactly what the mark is for although there have been numerous explanations offered. Anybody know exactly what it is that is spaced every 19 3/16″? e-mail responses to [email protected] Sorry – no prizes for the most original suggestions.
