Has anyone ever been 1099’d by a customer? If you don’t have a federal tax ID # and work under your SS# shouldn’t any customer that pays you more then $600,00 1099 you?

Basically if this is being done for business then you should get a 1099 MISC.
And sometime you might not know.
For example you can get doing repairs on an office in a home and it is being used as his business office and would deduct the expense then it should be 1099'd.
But many people have home offices where they don't conduct business and thus it is a personal expense and there is no requirement for a 1099.
An other place where you might get a 1099 on a residence is if it is owned by a bank or a reloc department.
I am not sure, but rental property is an investment and not a business and I don't think that there is a need for sending one out for work on a rental property.
.
A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
What do you mean by customer?
The irs just doesn't want two different business writing off the same income.

keep looking for customers who want to hire YOU.. all the rest are looking for commodities.. are you a commodity ?... if you get sucked into "free estimates" and "soliciting bids"... then you are a commodity... if your operation is set up to compete as a commodity, then have at it..... but be prepared to keep your margins low and your overhead high...."
From the best of TauntonU.
The only customers that have ever 1099'd me are farmers, I suppose they write off our labor as some sort of farm deduction. I've done work for other businesses and never got a 1099 from them.
