This is my first expierince teaching and have a tough time filling the voids in class. Does anybody know of any inspiriational/informative/instructive videos that I could get through my local library? or if NAHB or other orgaizations have such videos they give you for programs like this. They are al nontraditional students. I checked the website for the cirriculem and they got squat.

OSHA has a series of tapes on jobsite safety that they will loan free of charge. You may even copy them for future classes. 'Course this doesn't meet the inspirational criteria but your students should be exposed to topics such as scaffold and ladder safety and noise exposure.

How about some of Taunton's videos? I gather that your budget, like those of most instructors, is tight, though, since you mention borrowing.
The Larry Haun videos and the Craig Savage video are good. Frank Klaus is good for a laugh, too, and you can learn a few things.
When you say "non traditional students", what do you mean? Are these high schoolers who for whatever reason didn't fare well with traditional classroom structure? Are they older? Younger? Immigrants? Are they in that class because they want to be, or because it's a dumping ground? Are they court appointed? How many hours do you have them for? How many days a week?
The students in this class are average age of 35 they are taking the class to get a leg up on other people on a resume. Many of there tuitions are state funded due unemployment. Most want a little bit to fall back on or starting a new career.Obstacles are the things you see when you take your eyes from the goal!
