I’m going to need a water supply for masonry for a new house, I’ve seen some guys use an above ground tank with a spigot that they either rent, or own and haul around from job to job. Well guy said he would install the well, and set up a temporary pressure tank I could operate with a generator, but he wants $1300 extra to set it up. I have a septic tank being installed soon, I was wonderiing if I could use that as a rent-free holding tank for a 1000 gals of water. My question is, for anyone out there, is what do you use for temporary water supply, when needed?

I hauled a 275 gal tank in my van. If you go that way, make sure it's full (or empty) before taking off. You also need a good source to fill it.
Your septic tank sounds good, especially as it'll be pressurized water after the pump. You thinking commercial water delivery?

What does the $1300 include, a pump house to protect from freezing in North Dakota? (no profile info) plus the tank pump, and all controls?/
New pressure tank is only $250. How much did your well cost? My 60 ft deep well plus the pumphouse plus pump and electrical cost about $500 total DIY, 95% of that was the tank, pump, and 60 ft of casing and pipe. (Aint gonna tell yu how many hours I spent though<G> but it was a real education.
Consider how you'd get the water out of the septic tank.
But it might work. Talk to the plumber. Like as not there's an outfit in the area that hauls water and will fill it up for a reasonable fee.
The other option is several garbage cans in the back of a pickup. Be sure to drive real slow.

Look for a agricultural/farm supply store near you. You can rent a 250 to 500 gal. tank for a month or two fairly cheap. Set it up hill or on some gribing for a gravity feed, or use a small portable pump that you can also rent at the farm supply center.
Since you are in an area that has wells, I would quess that there is a local hauler for water also. Use them to fill the rental tank.
We use a 150 gal tank and small pump on a trailer to wash a/c condenser units at one of our power plants. We even hauled a generator with the rig to power the pump for a while. Works like a charm.

I did just that with the septic tank a few years back.
Being a vol. fireman I was able to take our tanker and drop 5-7 hundred gallons into the septic tank, then a submersable sump pump runs easily off a generator to preasurise a hose.
