Test- Sandbox ?

rjw | Posted in General Discussion on March 20, 2002 06:54am

This is mainly a test, but where’s that sandbix they talked about???

BTW, would you trust this ventless heater manufacturer?  After all, they used an “oxigen depletion sensor”

      This FIFO presentation is a pain; but then, so is the speed: is this forum slow or what ?^

        I've not had any problems with speed...I mean the speed of the forum. Cable modem, if that makes a diff.

            Bob,

            I can change what "I" post any durn ole way I want. What I can't change is the default font for the whole forum, and I really don't like Ariel or other sans serif fonts for long stretches of reading. But I am willing to get use to it. Or you all can all promise to only post in Venetian 301 or Palatino!

            Lessee this is Book Antiqua, which I use a lot for work, but may not be so great for recreation. I really love Kristen, too, but I might get seasick.

            Comic sans is pretty nice. I use it a lot. Can we set a default font for everything we do, or do we have to set it each post?

            Bob, I've always wondered, is that Bob "L" or Bob "One?" Now, in ariel font, I REALLY can't tell!

            I think the sys sets the default font

            Oh, thanks, Bobell.

            Yeah, I know the sys sets it. Lisa showed me how you can go into "tools/internet prefs" and change the default to anything you want, assuming the site didn't specify it, and I was looking forward to that. But I am already adjusting the this font just fine.

            Theo, I love Comic Sans, too. If you're starting a petition, I'll sign it! Hey, let's get a poll on this--still looking for a good use of that feature. After all, someone spent half a year of his/her life developing it! Ha ha ha.

            I'm here!  I saw your post yesterday and then I could never find it again to reply to.  There's just gotta be a better way to get around this place.  Anyway, doesn't the tools/internet/font thing work for you here?  It works for me fine.  I'm in Explorer - how about you?  I set it to Comic Sans yesterday and it's still working.  Maybe try it again?

            Is that for any click or just your posts showing up? For posts, it's some dorky indexing thing they do--that's aggravating. For all other clicks I get immediate response.

            I get no "immediate response"; however, there are times when the trivial commands, like changing 'groups' or opening a different thread go fairly quickly. Most of the time it's slow, quite slow, very slow, really slow, snail-like, or interminable..

            Hi Phill,

            Forgive me if you said you are using IE. I cannot "re-find" posts w/out great difficulty. But using this site on NS is horrid--I think sysop said prospero owned up that it often doesn't work. W/me, sometimes trying to even freakin open a window in which to post has taken almost 10 minutes, then another 10 to post. While w/IE, no prob.

            This is the HTML code to create a table, with a border, color each cell a different color, print the contents in Palatino script and space them to look right

            <table border="5" align="center" bgcolor="Red">

            <tr align="center" valign="middle">

            <td bgcolor="white">&nbsp;&nbsp<font size="+2" color="Red"><font face="palatino"><b>Balls</b><br></font>&nbsp</td>

            <td bgcolor="green" >&nbsp;&nbsp<font size="+2" color="white"><font face="palatino"><b>to</b><br></font>&nbsp</td>

            <td bgcolor="Red">&nbsp;&nbsp<font size="+2" color="black"><font face="palatino"><b>the Queen Mother</b><br></font>&nbsp</td>

            </tr>

            </table>

            Silver,

            I learned it to do my web-page and I use Homesite but if you want an easy guide here's a couple of useful links

            Thanks Ian, really appreciate the info. My lady wants to set up a web page for her line of equistrian clothing so this will help. Is Homepage a program that can be purchased?

          20. IanDGilham | Mar 23, 2002 04:39am | #39

            Hi ho Silver (couldn't resist that)

            Homesite is a program for creating web pages -- I think MS Office includes Frontpage, which is another program.

            Homesite is a product by Allaire, and their web-site is

          phill.. sometimes when i post it goes off in the weeds , so if i open a new browser window.. it goes right back to fast...

          also.. here at home i'm on netscape ( off in the weeds )

          at the office i use IE, with fewer problems..did i tell u i hate IE..

          hey, a while ago u mentioned that this would be a better site if it was OS/2.. i ran OS/2 for a year.. loved it.. it was great..

          then IBM announced they were abandoniing it...reluctently decided it was a MicroSoft world.....sure wish i could run Netscape instead of IE.. but our cable supplier got on board with IE also...Mike Smith
