Alright jim.  No BF&S'n there.  So, what do you think we get those easterners to start off again the sunrise shots?  Maybe take this back across the country again, perhaps carrying it off the shore and around the globe?

Here's some more sunsets, But I didn't take 'em.

Firestarter is my current desktop wallpaper.

When you see them, you'll know why I did not shrink them for dialup.

        Sam ...

        re-the fire starter ...

once upon a time .. me and my bect bud Mark had nothing better to do one nite ... so we sat on the trunk of my Olds Cutlass .. with a case of beer between us ... in the high school parking lot .. which over looked a fantastic view of the valley below.

It started to rain a bit .. we still didn't have anything better to do .. so we drank in the rain.

Then it started to pour ... again .. nothing going on .... might as well enjoy the beer and summer rain.

        It started to lightening.

From that perch .. it made for a great light show.

After 3 too many beers ... I said ... Ya know .. I'd like to see some lightening... over THERE!

Bam! There was a lightening strike ... right over where I pointed.

Not to be outdone..... Mark says .. that was nice ... but I wanna see a lightening strike ... over there .. pointing the other direction ...

Bang! Lightening right where he pointed.

He says .. that's cool ... now I want one right down the middle ...

Bam! One goes right down the middle ...

I say .... Not bad ... But I wanna see one ... right down the middle ... but really F'n big, with lotsa little arms shooting out ......!

Bang!! The sky light up just like that pic .... one big arc with lotsa little arms shooting out.

Scared the sh!t outta us ... we both decided ... even though we "knew" we weren't actually making those lightening strikes happen..... that we were done playing!

We drove to the nearest pavilion to safely finish our underage drinking out of the rain .....

Piff, we keep this up here we just might get a nice series of shots across the country.  I see you like similar subject matter.  Got any 30 mph shots?Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

I'll see your 30MPH and raise you to 35MM

How do you get the sun to slow down to only 30MPH? anyway.

It races right over Maine. Probably in a hurry to get away before it gets taxed for brilliance. We do have a brilliance tax you know. They don't understand basic taxation policy in Augusta - the part where, if you tax something, you get less of it.

They raise the brilliance tax every year in autumn to make up the shortfall in revenue when the tourists go south. It gets mighty dim then. Then somebody gets a bright idea and they reduce the tax on brilliance and it all comes back to them. Unfortunately, they then become blinded by their own brilliance and by the following fall, they are ready to raise the tax again.

When the tax assessor comes around, I play dumb so he doesn't tax me for all my brilliance. It was working pretty good until one day when he noticed that if I walked into a room, it got brighter in there. That flipped the switch on an energy audit. The rascals decided to tax me based on the light I DON'T use and give it to someone down the road a piece who was living in the dark without a clue.

Well, enough about our state government. I'm just glad we get to use the sun first while it is clean from it's dip ion the Atlantic Ocean. By the time all of you across the continent get finished using it all day, it is really dirty when it goes to bed in the Pacific over LA.

I remember visiting LA once. One day, we stepped outside and through the smog-induced tears in my eyes, I could barely see the bright spot in the sky indicating where poor old Sol was hangin'.

And the residents were chirping, "What a gloriously beautiful day! The sun is shining through!"

I figure the brilliance tax must be really high out there.

[ none of the above is the opinion of Taunton, it's advertisors, or subsidiaries - like Lowes. This content is strictly that of the darn fool, Piffin ]

this one doesn't compete will all the great pictures posted before,  but i clicked it off a couple weeks back at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider on Waikiki.

unfortunatley, someone was walking through the scene, and with the long exposure they appear blury..

    oh well..
