I have a client for whom I will be installing T&G Ipe on his covered porch floor. I’ve worked with the square edged 1x material before, but not the T&G. Anything I should know?
acclimation?
how tight in a reasonable humid climate (Washington, DC)?
I’m assuming stainless steel trim head screws, pre-drilled through the tongue?
possible water retention issues if snow/rain blows in and sets awhile?
Anyway, if anyone has any advice, I’d be grateful.

I covered a couple of finger piers with some T&G ipe and it worked great.
I used a bostich floor stapler to attach it. Very few problems. Maybe 1 in 20 staples would reject and crumple. Easy to remove and restaple.
Another problem I had was with the alignment of my material. I had a hi/low problem due to the quality of my boards. ( trailer decking) I used a flap disk to blend the seams followed by an orbital, turned out great.
I'm using some of the same material to cover a double winder staircase, looks great so far.
Another item I've used for ipe decks and the current staircase is 3M 5200. A great product for additional insurance.
one question is what is this over?open framing to dry below or plywood decking????

Sorry. Open framing to dry below. It's a typical covered porch.
one of the reasons we bought a Bostich Floor STAPLER is because we can get SS flooring staples for use on exterior flooring
i don't know if you can get SS cleats, but with a premium material like Ipe' I'd sure want to have the fasteners not fail or stain the workMike Hussein Smith Rhode Island : Design / Build / Repair / Restore
