That’s what I might be stepping off into. A friend and I are looking at a circa 1910 shingle-style house, big enough we think, to renovate and turn into a 4-unit condo. Two three-BRs, two one BRs. A drop dead view, across the golf course its backyard adjoins, gazing out at the mountains. The owner owns a few of these, and everything we have seen, when completed, all dolled up in period dress, has commanded big bucks. It is a wreck inside and out, but with a solid frame and new roof. It’ll be a total gut inside and a stripoff outside, shingles and trim, then start from scratch. I’ve always built new before, but my bud has done a re-do. Even separated the roof and jacked it up to make a third floor out of an attic. We’ll see how this goes.
