After looking through the archives, I’ve decided that that the answers to my questions are not yet available- so here goes. Scenario: currently in possession of an older Bosche spline drive unit that really kicks butt when drilling holes. The key word here is “possession” it’s been on semi-permanent loan. You know the rest: time to give it back and get my own. However…. Do I get a spline drive, SDS “plus” or SDS “max”? what’s everyone running these days? Bear in mind that I’m not drilling for oil or trying to get to China with one- just typical stuff like anchor bolts, the occasional hole through foundation for pipes etc. A stop rotation would be nice too… Do I need a spline drive or is this overkill? In regard to the spline drive, it appears that 1/4″ bits are NOT available- only for the SDS plus drive- or maybe not? Also, I’m inclined to stick with Bosche but the Milwaukee stuff looks nice too….
Thoughts, comments, etc much appreciated…
