I GC’d my own house a couple years ago, and used a 75 foot piece of 3/8-inch I.D. flexible clear PVC tubing as a water level. Colored the water with green food dye to make it easier to see the level. My foundation crew helped me string it around when we were using it to set the nails in the forms to mark the wall top elevations. When I told them that water levels were used by the Egyptians when building the pyramids, one of the guys remarked, “Really? Where’d they get the PVC tubing?”
