Has anyone used the thermally modified wood products such as siding and is it any good? And does anyone recommend a dealer/distributer for the northeast (Ma.)? Thanks in advance.

I use thermally modified wood products all the time. My favorite are the ones put out by Kingsford. Works really well in my water smoker.
How does smoked water taste?
Seems like it'd just be like old bong water.

I have a hoe with a flame hardened handle.
Water smoker. You know the smoker with the pan of water between the wood coals and the meat.
Old bong water? That though hasn't crossed my mind for decades. Thanks.
i've recently started using windows and doors made from Accoya:http://www.bswaccoya.co.ukit machines really well and is suitable for all opaque finishes.they have just built a bridge from it: http://www.bswaccoya.co.uk/casestudies/articles/16it seems like really good stuff i've also used it on some repairs with good results.it's not cheap though about 10% more than the same product in sapele.
Pretty good discussion over at JLC. A little spamming but...

tigershark5 are you in the industry?
I was wondering the same thing.
Not sure if you guys are for real or yanking my chain. Just asking a simple question looking for a little info. Yes I bang nails if thats what your asking. I happened to hear about this new wood process and was wondering if anyone happened to use it. I went to JLC and found it interesting. Thanks. But not sure about the cynicisim.
I personally never heard of it before reading about it on JLC before.
I don't think it is widely available, that is why the question!>G<
I'm a little sceptical about new posters who bring up a product from out of left field. JLC had the same thing happen. It made for an interesting discussion. I have never heard of this.
Are you looking to replace PT? What is your application?
This just seemed to be an interesting alternative to typical decking. I haven't been all that thrilled with pt as of late, the quality has been lacking. And I just am always looking for other materials to offer clients. I am pretty sure one of the companies that offers this wood is near me so I am going to inquire with them but I was just looking to see if anyone has actually had any hands on with it. Sorry if it seemed cryptic, always hard to break into a new blog and get known.
No worries. I had never heard of the product. i don't folow Building science on JLC. But I googled the term and came up with that. 2 mentions in a month. Kinda strange.
Let us know what you find. I'm kinda interested now
