I put in a gravity recirculating loop for a customer today. Supply to far end of house is 3/4 cu. My return line is 1/2 cu terminating through a tee and swing check valve at the dtrain bib. I insulated supply line as well as the return. I did not insulate the last 15′ of the return. Doesn’t appear to be much movement. I’ll call them tommorrow to check on status after no usage all night. I’m wondering if setting the check valve at 45 degrees to leave the flapper more open would help. House is a ranch supply and return about 52′.

Check has to be open. I install at a 45 and use a ball valve to help balance when water is being drawn. Sometimes the check can sound like a machine gun. The ball valve helps to stop it.
Thanks. I slightly tweaked the check of level, and I hate out of plumb plumbing. 45 degrees seems to make a lot of sense. Check should still be able to pull closed when water is being drawn. I'll modify on the next visit. Mike
