A friend of mine ,who is also a contractor, is joining NARI. I’ve been talking about possibly doing the same. I’m gonna go to a meeting to see what it’s all about.
I’ve been self employed for over a year now and doing pretty good so far. I have good knowledge of construction but need to learn more of the business side of things. Would NARI help with this? Do they have good educational programs? Is it worth the annual membership fees?
Anyone have any experience with this?

What exactly is NARI?
Remember that many acronyms get used more than once. Not everyone will know what you’re talking about.
The number of marriages proves that it is truly the home of the brave.
The National association of remodeling industry
I inquired about membership and never got a reply (maybe they're good judges of character)...
Go to the website and look around. I think some of their strength will depend on your local chapter. There isn't any info on the site about membership costs. They do have a health insurance plan, prescription and other discount offers for members. I don't know any of the specifics. The local chapter in my area was started by the worst hack builder in town. Had a bad attitude, too. No contractors, I know, are members.
In many cases, belonging to a professional organization can be a benefit. It may just be about meeting others in your work and sharing info. It could also be about participating in group benefits but you have to weigh the costs vs the benefits. When you talk to members, they are generally enthusiastic. Not many are going to tell you it's a waste of time or money. Despite the long time the organization has been around, I don't think many prospective customers know anything about it. This could be regional. Like any organization, it takes work and commitment by the members.
