Thinking of buying a Spinscreed….does anyone have an opinion about them? Reviews? Suggestions?
Hey all, I am wondering if anyone has any experience using a Spinscreed and would be willing to share with me. I am contemplating buying a spinscreed as finding labour in northern ontario that is willing to manually handle a screedboard with me is becoming increasingly rare. Kids just don’t want to work these days! So i am spending more on tools that allow me to become more productive.
Thank you in advance for any experiences you may have and share! 🙂

take a look at this section of a thread I did.

Is this what you're talking about?
If it is, there's more in the thread-here's a link to the whole thing.

Screeds
The type I've seen here are vibra-screeds, not spinners, but I bet the outcome is the same... you still need several guys to get concrete down. One guy handles the power tool, a few others with trowels work right in front of it moving mud, a few others are behind that on the chute and raking. The power tool may save you the bull-floating work.
slope paving
The only place I've seen one used that left me impressed was in placing the sloped concrete paving on the slopes of freeways, and the concreted slopes at bridges and grade crossings.
They did a great job in those applications, and worked better than any other device I have seen it done with. Far faster than trying to hand screed. The vibratory screeds failed because the vibration caused the concrete to flow in behind them.
I'm guessing they will work just fine in flat work, but can't say because I have never seen them used.
I'm going to assume you (the OP) saw the Fine Home Building tool review I posted a link to in the other thread.

As I said, I know the owner but I have never used the item...but its also been 19 years since I laid andyconcrete. I can tell you the owner has used them extensively in a subdivision near to me and the finish is still good after many years.
I was searching the internet last night and I did come across that article...sings awful high praises! I'm very intrigued...I think I will buy one.
Spin Screed
I'm not in the business, but have done some concrete work for myself and helped others. I'm always looking for ways to make things go easier on a concrete job. A few years ago I came across the spin screed on internet. I made one and used it to help my friends do a couple jobs. It worked great except it spun a little too fast. Since then I got a speed control from HF but haven't had the chance to try it. Works best on wood forms but if there is concrete on one side we used aluminum flashing so as not to grind down the aluminum pipe. I would be happy to provide additional info. Total cost for about 13' foot aluminum pipe, right angle dril (HF) and control approx. $250 at that time.
