Hi All
I have been asked to install a tile(2 high) backsplash in a remodeled kitchen. My question is should i cut the drywall out and replace with cement board or can I tile right on drywall?
Thanks

Tile right on the drywall, there should not be any water getting on the tile, therefore no need for the backer board.
I'm certainly no tile expert but I've tiled a backsplash right on the drywall and it seems to have worked fine. Now, on the counter itself, I did use 1/2" duroc. Also, you can use mastic on a backsplash whereas you want thin-set on the counter.
