I have a floor in a comercial retail store that I have to retile . The existing floor is in so so shape, vinyl squares (some dimples and some cracks). Asbestos is not a concern. I would like to tile over the existing tiles but have my concerns about the high points and voids, Is this a good idea or should I remove the old floor and start over?

What will the new tile be ... ceramic or vinyl? How much time do you have to do the job?
There are floor levelers available that set up in 30 minutes and are designed for small dings and spalls. High spots should be chipped or ground smooth. Other than that, you can tile over the old stuff if you use the right material.
