I have been asked to add a tiled floor over an unheated garage. The new room is a sunroom/office, “cool’ room, over the garage, and I’m wondering what the best bonding material/substrate is. Drypack, mortar, mastic? Any help is appreciated, Cheers,Phil.

Phil,
Is this over the existing garage slab, or a room above the garage?
The point is, what is the tile substrate?

A room over the garage, plywood sheathing, until recently, vinyl-deck material covered,,,cheers,Phil. If it is to be.... 'twil be done by me.
Phil,
Throw some sheers of 1/4" cementatious backer board over the plywood, and thinset the tile into place. If the room will be heated, you should be good to go.
