(Tile) Floor Tiling – Glue on Concrete
Good afternoon –
Several years ago I glued wood tiles to a concrete slab. A recent water problem has forced me to remove those wood tiles which I plan to replace with ceramic tile.
How can I get all of the old glue off of the concrete so that I can lay the thinset for the ceramic tiles? The floor are is ~200 sq ft.
Suggestions that specify the proper tool(s), their source and/or technique would be greately appreciated.
Thank,
Richard

There are glue-removal products available. Find the right one based on the type of glue you used, and use it. Be sure to follow the precautions.
Good evening -
I assume that you're referring to a chemical removal...
It is my understanding that by using chemicals, a neutralizer will be required before the thinset can be applied, right?
Will that be less work that physically scrapping the glue off the concrete?
Thanks for your input.
Generally, some sort of neutralizer is called for when using chemical strippers before thinset.Scraping without mechanical help, and without chemical help, is a huge amount of work.

See if your local rental yard has one of these or similar:

I agree, that's the only way I'd do it.
