Rufus,
Assuming that you’ll experiment, I’d try liquid hide glue. It brushes easier than PVA glues and I think it washes off more easily as well.

It's a mucalage (sp?) glue made from bones and hoofs mostly (yumm) and sold readymade by Titebond (maybe others as well) and seems to be available in most paint and hardware stores; woodworking stores for sure. It's permanently water resoluble, though as time goes on, it takes more effort to soften it.

Those of you experienced with tiling:
If you wanted to apply handmade glass mosaic tiles to kraft paper so you could apply big sections at once, what kind of glue would you use to adhere the tile to the paper and then expect it to come unglued when you wetted down the paper after the tiles set? Is it just something like Elmer's household white glue? Any idea what the tile manufacturers use?
*Crafts people use ordinary contact paper.
*Any kind of white glue will be fine. Would be better though if you glued your tiles onto mesh so you can see any mistakes prior to laying.
*I've done quite a bit of tile myself. I think I'd use draft stop...comes right off but bonds temporarily.

*Thanks for the suggestionsMark: where would you get such mesh? What glue would you use to attach it...I assume we'd want a permanent glue in this application.Lawrence: what is draft stop?David: Hide glue washes off more easily with water? Is that made from cowhides or the like? Where do you buy hide glue?
