i am tiling a kitchen backsplash and there is a window behind the kitchen sink. i am conflicted with the best relationship of the window trim and the tile. does the window have an apron, does the window sill (stool cap) get notched to fit over the tile, does the tile get notched around the sill. what is the bast way for the two finishes to relate.

The recipe for linoleum hasn't changed much in nearly 170 years, yet it's still one of the greenest floors money can buy.

The best way to do this is to ask the wife how she wants it. You can do a no-sill/no-apron trim, tile sill, wood sill, whatever she wants.

Often depends on the trim style. If the trim is condusive to picture framing, you might try that and cut tile to it.
When not, I typically go without an apron. I extend jambs to accomodate tile thickness. Install backsplash first, and trim atop tile, notching the stool as necessary.
If backsplash does not continue up entire height of window, I fill gap between trim and wall with solid wood.
