I am looking for a supplier of timber frame components pre-cut to my specifications which would allow my crew to erect a pre-fab type of structure utilizing timber frame construction. Seems I recall that some mills have computer controlled cutting machines which will allow this type of construction.

Harmony Exchange (i think it's http://www.harmonyexchange.com), is a service that will hook you up with whatever closest mill will provide the wood to your specifications. The mainly supply ICF, SIP, Timber, and Log construction.
*You also might want to look at:http://www.timberframe.org/http://www.looksmart.com/eus1/eus317829/eus317864/eus265189/eus133745/eus998045/r?l&If you do a search with an Internet search engine such as http://www.google.com, on "timber frame" you will also come up with a number of listings by fabricators which you might want to check. A couple of such vendor pages are:http://www.traditionaltimberframe.com/http://www.timberframingmagazine.com/
*Pat-Riverbend timber Framing (riverbendtf.com) has a large CNC machine and they will cut frames exactly to your specification. However, you should know that the joinery and engineering decisions, as well as beam sizing decisions you make are your responsibility, unless you let the timber framer have input in the design process. Most insist on this. I've worked with Riverbend a lot over the years. A big part of our business involves designing erecting and (some) general contracting of timber framed homes. Our tact has been to draw what we want (knowing the spans and the limitations of timber framing from experience) and allow their engineers actually figure out the frame.Riverbend is in Michigan, but works all over the country.Where are you? Obviously shipping costs are a part of the balance sheet..Another option would be for you to check out the timber framer's guild (tfguild.org). There might be a framer in your back yard with a CNC machine- there are about a dozen around the country. Feel free to e mail me directly with questions, as I don't get on this forum as often as I'd like.Chris
