I’m looking for a source for nice looking and relatively inexpensive wrought iron hangers for exposed sprinkler piping in a timber frame structure. I don’t want anything that requires wood-butchery to install. Lag screw type anchorage would probably be okay. I want to minimize amount of cutting, drilling, etc. of strucutral members. Any readily available sources?

I haven't been involved with sprinkler installation for a couple of decades, but when I was, the hangers generally used in industrial fire sprinkler installation looked pretty rustic. These were generally cast steel or cast iron rings that held the pipe and were suspended from the ceiling by a steel rod. I would assume that most plumbing supply stores or at least Grinnell would still have these. You could probably dress up the steel rod a little more without much problem.
Earthquake bracing, if required in your area, might be a bit more of a problem. To get the required cross bracing, these were often fairly long and were fabricated out of black pipe and/or angle iron.
You might want to check with whoever will be doing the inspecting to see what their requirements are. For special fabrication, you might see if a local blacksmith or anyone in your area constructs wrought iron fences or security doors. They could probably take some of their stock material and drill a few holes in it and come up with something that would pass inspection.
For my own home sprinkler system that I am hoping to build "real soon now", I am currently thinking about using copper pipe and fabricating my own hangers out of brass pipe and brass rod for those areas where the sprinkler heads will be exposed.
