My wood framed/sheathed chimney chase goes up the gable end of the house through a 1 foot overhang and is approximately a foot to the right of the peak. (12/12 cape)
The carpenter who constructed the chase probably thought the roofer would put a cricket between the chase and the roof…end result, no cricket.
My question is, since it’s such a small area, do I really need a cricket or
could we just run ice/water barrier under the siding up the chase and under the shingles on the roof and then blow the leaves out once or twice a year?
Yeah, I know. I don’t even like that as I write it, but it is such a short distance and a cricket would look extremely out of place and with the Ice&Water material run continuously…well, whadaya think?
