I’m replacing my worn out stair treads on the front of my house. I’ve always used doug. fir treads in the past but was wondering if I should use pressure treated lumber instead. It’s kind of shady where the steps are and my wife likes to run the sprinkler all summer. I’m also never sure when you should put paint on p.t. lumber and what type to use. Thanks.

I would consider a fake wood product.
I don't think paint sticks well to pressure treated, and painted wood can be slick when wet. Unpainted PT looks very informal, which is more appropriate on a deck than a porch. Some of the fakes are pretty good looking on the right house, wood can be pretty rustic looking, which is OK, but pressure treated is especially rough and unrefined.
