well, ya gotta read the other posts first...
the only place you don't see the 'post a new message' link at the top is within extant tpoics, like this, where you can't post a new message from anyway, but only replies.
*Nevermind. The problem is that I need a bigger monitor. I just couldn't see it. By the way, how come you never repremanded me for that totally disgusting post I did, that you deleted immediately. I figured I at least deserved to be told off. But, then again I don't think it violated the content policy.
*MikeNo wonder you knew all the gory details!-pm
*Allright darnit!! Now I want to know what your talking about. Censorship..Hmmmmm..figures that censorship finally shows up just when I didn't want it.Pete Draganic
*Speaking of deleting posts, I do not understand the logic of indefinitely being able to delete a post. The original poster can only edit it for a short time, but it appears he or she can delete it even in the archives! Deletion is editing. This can get very confusing when people are deleting posts. My question is: What is the logic behind this? Also, if you, Sean, Illustrious Webster, delete a post or a thread, then I think a marker should be left in its place stating that the post # such and such or the thread titled whatever has been deleted in keeping with content policy.Just a couple of thoughts.Thanks.Rich Beckman
*Hey, Pete! Long time, no see. Whatever happened with the salon owner?
*"extant" ... hmmm ... liberal arts major gone terribly wrong?
*rich, good point on the deletion marker. will implement.as for deleting posts in perpetuity (liberal arts / law school candidate gone terribly wrong), it allows folks the freedom to remove themselves from the fray at any time. if you write it, it should remain essentially your property (tho we can reprint it whenver we like).
*Sean:Good point on the poster retaining deletion rights in perpetuity(as they say). I've done exactly that for that reason. But, I'm not sure that keeping the fact that the person did post at one time serves any purpose. Many of the topics include material not on point to the discussion that there isn't much continuity anyway. If a person deletes they should be able to remove their id also. Perhaps, merely saying: "Message deleted by originator on dd/mm/yy" or some such would satisfy all of us.
*Ha! I knew it. I actually went to law school. And enjoyed it dammit. (Let me guess ... Dartmouth? UVM?)
*Sean,Wow! Now that's service! Thanks!Rich Beckman
