Does anyone have a source for 1950’s era “flesh tone” closet bolt caps? My plumber managed to break the original ones on a clients toilet. Replacing the toilet is not really an option, and the client would like replacements. Any ideas?
Thanks
Matt

If you cannot find the real thing get some standard ones and spray paint them, take the old one to match. Paint a spare set or two and give the customer as backups.
Around here there are several salvage places that have some very odd things like that.
At a bar I used to work the toilet in the men's room had its tank cover smashed. Rude boy got a little carried away. It wasn't associated with any violence. Other than to the lid itself. A few claimed it had something to do with a couple getting back together. They went for months with a piece of plywood on top. Health inspector mentioned it but didn't write it up. I called around and found a couple of plumbing shops that had bone yards of old toilets and fixtures. Took some time to go out back and dig through the piles and grass. The second shop I went to had the lid I needed. Cost me $5. Wouldn't be surprised if a plumbing shop had what you want. Calling the manufacturer might get you a source also.
One of my workers broke a baby blue toilet tank cover cica 1960-something. The bath had matching tub and vanity sinks. Replacing the toilet was not an option. I contacted the manufacturer and one of thier reps located one somewhere and had it couriered in the next day.

I barely recall from a party at someones beach house. I vividly remember the bottle rocket nose cones that covered the closet bolts and the beautiful redhead from Argentina <sigh>
