Toilet height/flange with new HW floor
I’ve just installed 3/4″ flooring in a bathroom after taking out linoleum so the floor is now above the toilet flange. I bought a kit of two rings, one 1/4″ thick and one 1/2″ thick with a foam/rubber gasket and longer bolts to extend the flange but of course the drilled/countersunk holes don’t line up.
Sooo, my options are;
1. Modify the ring/rings. The holes are close enough to be a problem so I might be able to rout new slots and drill new holes.
2. Use two wax seals?
3. Buy a new flange to match the rings and redo that.
The house is ten yrs old and Murphy’s been hanging around so I’m hesitant to attempt the flange for fear of breaking something.
I assume that there is an “acceptable range” of toilet to flange distance but have no idea what it might be.
Thanks in advance

I read your post three times till I figured out that you got a flange extension. ( I was thinking wax ring with the imbedded rubber funnel flange thingy) Forget the extension you got.
They make a fattie wax ring, I like the rubber funnel flange on it. Doubling is a good option too. Make sure when seating commode on the rings, that it acually has to squish a little, slight rock or wiggle down then you know you've got contact with the wax ring.
( buy an extra in case you mess it up or slip)
Longer closet bolts (use spare nuts to tighten the bolt to the flange, so the bolt won't move/tip over when placing toilet.
Your first flush will tell you if you did a good job.
My advice... Have an empty bucket, a big sponge and a couple rag towells handy, fill the tank halfway with water, turn off anglestop, test flush. All works fine...turn on angle stop and your done.

Thanks, I'll go get one and give it a shot. Thanks for the other tips as well.

http://www.johnbridge.com It's a tile site but they are many numerous posts on this same subject since tile in a bathroom does the same thing (raises floor height) If you're looking for more info.
