I have this drill and can attest that it is a monster! Anyone who is in the market should give this tool a look... It won the tools of the trade shootout on corded 1/2 inch drills. I have changed the chuck for a keyless and I store it in a metal Milwaukee impact driver box that I scored off e-bay
Funny, I swapped my keyless chuck for a keyed one. I'm not strong enough to get a tight chuck on the steel keyless ones.
I did exactly the same thing years ago.
I have not looked recently, but maybe the new ones are the rubber or hard plastic used on the cordless drills? I recently got the 14.4 volt drill and impact driver, and that chuck is pretty cool. I do not know if it will hold up on a magnum hole shooter or not though.
The keyless church I had was one that ratcheted like an impact wrench or hammer drill. The problem was when the tool may have loosened some while using it and then the chuck came loose and the tool fell out.
Just got it today. What a drill! Twice the power as my old 3/8" 4 amp. Thanks for the suggestion. That price is $30 less than HD.
I bought 24 I Beam clamps from Tyler Tool a few years ago and their prices and service have been excellent.
