i’ve been building wooden boats going on three years, but i’m getting
restless and would like to do some residential finish/trim carpentery. i
have the usual rough framing tools and lots of hand tools for boat
trimwork, but my employer provides all my handheld power tools (jigsaw,
screwgun, drill motor, trim router) as well as the full shop. i’m wondering
what’s expected (toolwise) for a skilled apprentice. i’d like to keep eyes
out for used stuff, etc. rather than dump a bunch of cash all at once.
