I submitted a post a little while back looking for favorite towel warmers. Fortdh convinced me that the best towel warmers are those he made himself from copper tubing, put in-line with the shower’s hot water line. Unfortunately, I’ve been unable to convince my wife that this will turn out looking nice; even if powder coated or chrome plated. So, I’m thinking about using those fancy ball type fittings like you see on bar railings to pretty it up (see picture below) These seem to be substantial and solderable. Do you think these would hold up to water pressure?

They should ,look like there brass . Er aaa how much water pressure are we talking here?
How do you think the finish on them will hold up to the heat needed for soldering?
Are they the right diameter to accept the piping you want to solder?
Can you buy a set, and make a test piece with, say, a garden hose connection, and leave it on for a day or so.
Would hate to see it fail while you're out of the house.

Good idea for the test. Easy enough to do, and I can test well beyond the 50-60psi it will see in normal use. I think the finish will get messed up, but can easily be re-buffed, or may not matter as I plan to probably have it chromed anyway.
why is this running that high of pressure? most hydronic systems run 12 to 20 psi. with the relief valve being set at 30 psi.
It's not on a hydronic system, it's in line with the hot water for the shower.
Oops. I missed that.
