Howdy all. The wife and I want to put operable transom windows over two interior 3/0x6/8 doors in our new house. Tough to find so I may have to make them. Doesn’t sound like a difficult job (none of them do, do they!) but before I go creating a lot of sawdust I was wondering if anyone here could shed some light/help ideas on the subject. Does anyone know where I can get shop drawings etc.
Thanks for your help.

Hopper or awning windows esp. interior are as basic as you can get. Hinge top, hinge bottom whatever..add a stop on one side and find a hardware ya like. Whats to draw?

I was thinking the same thing. It's already been done, they just don't call them transom windows till you use them that way.--------------------------------------------------------

Here are a couple pics. of what I recently did for myself on new construction. The cielings are all 9' so I just put the door headers up tight to the top plates. This left me with a tall RO that I filled with custom-made door jambs that included the opening for the transoms.
I plan on hinging mine on the bottom and using a chain to control the opening angle. There are a couple websites where you can buy the chains, catches and operating poles.
