My two 50-gallon trash cans have been displaced from my garage due to remodeling ( a closet now occupies their space).
I want to build an enclosure on the side of the house to hide them for cosmetic purposes, as well as for the occasional visiting varmint (mostly racoons).
I’m trying to devise something that will allow me to roll the cans in and out, access the tops to add refuse, will shed rain AND won’t be an eyesore. Can anyone point me to plans or share ideas for such a beast?
Many thanks.

You need to build a small shed with a hinged roof and double hinged doors in the front. If you have the typical rolling bins that are taking over the garbage-handling business, you can hook a chain from the bins' lids to the underside of the roof so they come up automatically when you lift the roof to dump your trash.
You might want to build in some counter-weights to help lift the roof of the shed; it depends on how big/heavy it needs to be to accomodate your garbage bins.

A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship...
But it is not this day.
Something that fits into the style of the house -- country, craftsman, Queen Anne, etc. Along with that, camoflaging it with shrubs, or a trellis, or whatever, can be good too.
Something fairly airy can let the material dry out and smell less. Even building it from synthetic materials would be nice so you could hose it down.
The best way to keep animals out is to have tight lids on the trash cans that the animals can't open.
Do you have any refrigerator boxes?
How's about a picture of the space in mind?
