will sanded grout scratch travertine tile. I read it on one of the labels at home depot for the 4×4. I spaced it with 3/16. Should I be that concerned if I use a softer grout float. I’m afraid unsanded may crackout on a jount of that size.

Are the tiles tumbled or polished? No effect on tumbled, polished might be lightly ... well ... sanded. Did you use white thinset? if not, the grey might telegraph up through the tile as shadow lines.
