have made 16 stair treads of Santos Mahogany. My customer has fallen in love with the rich look of the wood. He has asked me to install the treads without leaving nail holes (no face nailing). Any ideas? Possibly a one way fitting? ?

Do you have access to the underside of the stairs?

The treads should probably be screwed down anyway, not nailed. Maybe you could sell him the idea of counterbored screw holes plugged with the same wood. If you cut lots of plugs and try to color match they can be almost invisible. He might even go for plugs of a contrasting color. It's a great way to draw attention to the wood he likes so much.
If attaching from the top just isn't an option, and you'll have access to the stringers from below, how about simply drilling pocket holes and screwing from below. In the end it's probably the construction adhesive that truly holds them in place anyway.
Pocket holes is exactly what I was thinking.
I'm figuring if the HO didn't want nail holes, screw plugs are out of the question.
