after having to listen to builder comment about a built up top jamb (4 layers of 3/8 masonite) on an arched garage door opening.I thought that this may be a good place to use Trex (1 1/2 x 5 1/2)decking because of its ability to bend easier than say cedar, fir or redwood 2×6 or 2×8.Anyone know if this will work or not. Would also use Trex as side jambs.TIA

jim.. i love trex and use it for a lot of exterior trim details...it will bend easier that the real thing...but
it's most common finished size is 1 x 5.5 and when you rip the bullnose off it finishes to apx. 1x4.5.
usually on arches the head casing is ripped by a band saw or jig saw out of 1x10 or 1x12..
trex will bend.. but it doesn't always bend to a true arc as a wooden batten would...
if it were mine i would buy some GP-Primetrim 5/4 x12 and rip it from that stock...
