I have worked with "Trex" I was not impressed with it at all. you work with it just like you would work with 5/4 redwood. What I din't like was that when you put a screw through it; it would dimple up. to make a nice looking job you would have to sand it off.
I have not worked with choicedek.
*I have been using alot of Trex lately, mostly because I Will not use anymore CCA as decking it does not serve the customer any good to sell them an inferior product. If you are going to be using alot of Trex, Buy a Quikdrive screwgun. Its the only way to make time installing the decking. I like the Trex and all of the customers that I have sold it to seem to like it also. Its a little softer on the feet and does not splinter and that is good for the clients with Kids. After you install the decking you hit the dimples with a smooth faced hammer and they drive right down and hide the screw heads.

You can also fill the Trx holes with a putty of very fine Trex dust (e.g., belt sander waste) and PVC cement. This patch can be virtually invisible after a quick pass with a sander and time to fade in the sun.
Jay, what alternative to PT do you push? The price difference here is 2 or 3:1, that is, thousands of dollars, and pt will last a while if maintained. i don't like it much, but see its appeal. I have also used non-CCA pt called Kodiak and liked it, but it cost maybe 30% more than #1 pt and has uncertain future availability in this region (DC).
I think trex looks fine in an appropriate application. It's not a substitute for wood, it's just another decking material. I'm currently trying to make an attractive railing so that the trex on my deck will fade into the background.
