I’m trimming a window-seat niche, 80Lx24D, windows on all 3 adjacent walls. 1’x4′ fixed lights in the ends and centered on a 5’x5′ xox triple casement. Cushion height is at finish sill. Fixed end windows are not centered in their walls but are biased toward corner common with casement; inner plane of 1x finish jamb is 1 1/4″ out from adjacent perpendicular wall finish which is 1×4 T&G ponderosa wainscotting. Returns flanking casement are 11″. Ceiling is 12″ above finish head jambs. There is to be a soffit/bookshelf above windows extending out from xox plane to approximately the depth of end-window casing, which is 1x double-bullnose pine. Also, front of window-seat is wainscotting and end-windows are biased due to exterior plane relationships and are held up to allow ends for leaning. Question: Transition between head-casing and soffit bottom? Maybe a table-sawn built-up crown/cabinet head in place of 1x ? Que piensan?

I think a little contrasting piping added to the cushions would be just about right.
