the posts about bulbs to use in these got me thinking.
haven’t seen, and a search did not come up with any threads on trouble (I call them drop) lights.
Last one I bought was at a electrical supply house, figuresd I’d get a good one.
not too happy with it, the cord doesn’t hoild to well in the light head, the cord doesn’t come out, but there is enough play that the individual wires can be seen. Keep pushinmg it back in. (as an HO I don’t use it that often).
Is there any brand/features that you like?

I've had good luck with mt craftsman pro grade. It's only in my garage not on site with me so it sees limited abuse.

fyi ... trouble lights are meant to be hung from the metal hook, I hung one upside down by the cord and kept smelling something burning, took a while but it turned out the heat was melting the hande/cord grips, maybe that's what caused your cord problem ...
I've pretty much retired my corded drop lights and use a cordless light when I go under a house or into an attic. No more cords to drag around (and sometimes come unplugged), and no more worry about losing a bulb. I always start with a freshly charged battery and if I know I'll be there for a while, I bring a spare. The head on my light swivels so it's easy to adjust it so I can just lay the light down and still see what I'm doing.
Dave .. on the long trips take a spare bulb with you, ps if your light is a dewalt it has a spare one inside ..
At the risk of incurring the wrath of the tool junkies among us, I'll confess that my cordless light is a (dare I actually say it) Ryobi.
I had always thought that cordless lights were a gimmick intended to make the uninformed think they were getting something really neat. A few months ago, I needed to go in an attic and had left my drop light at home. I grabbed the cordless flashlight and by the time I came back down, I was a true believer. No cords to drag around, and no hassles with trying to hang it or lay it so I could see - just swivel the head and sit it down - lol.
A lot of folks dog the flashlights in the combo kits, and I don't see why. To me, they are a super handy to have. Not having to worry about D batteries or the larger cells, and being able to set it down and aim it towards your work, I use all of mine, wouldn't be without them.JT
me to I LOVE my Ryobi flashlight , always have a full battery or can get one quick enough . lots of light I also have a florescent corded light that I like , no Idea as to brand I pciked it up at a flea mkt used for a couple of bucks
I found one that has no permenant cord. You can stick any extension cord into the end of it, and make a drop light that way. Or unhook the light and then you have an extension cord.
Can't remember the brand offhand. Picked it up at a farm store a few years back.
