Does anyone have or use one?
I’m trying to better organize my truck and I like the idea of a flip open hard surface that I could write on.
I seem to spend half my day in my truck and the flip down arm rest/console in my truck isn’t cutting it.
I have an 04 F150, don’t suppose I’d be lucky enough to get an opinion from someoen with the same truck? I’m wondering how well it will sit on my seat with the arm rest up.

What is supporting the weight/pressure of your hand while writing?
Looks like it'll be toast in two weeks.

Niel,
I ferget, is your eFfinORD a supercab??
I keep thinking I'm gonna build a Box for behind the drivers seat to keep all the shid organized.
it would sit on the folded down half of the back seat ...
I also think that lid will fail in short order...
I don't Know what I am doing
But
I am VERY good at it!!
Mine is a standard cab, the 04's and later have about a 9in. space though in back of the seat for storage, I just bought a little portable file box to keep misc stuff I need to keep with me on hand.
I wish the Duluth thing was around 50 bucks, I'd feel much better about buying it and tossing it aside if it didn't work out.
Wonder what there return policy is... guess I could call and find out.
I liked the looks of that thing. But it specifically says it won't work with stick shifts, so I guess I'm outa luck.Like you, I might be willing to take a chance if it wans't so danged expensive.

Neil,
I have an F350 and have tackled a similar issue. I actually bought the cab commander that was your other listing and let it hang on the seat next to me or the back seat, depending upon passengers. I thought about building a box too, but decided against in favor of portability. It was the best decision that I made. For writing, I just keep an aluminum legal size clipboard on the seat and stop and write whenever needed.
You have to remember that half of the time you are driving, and the other half you are on the jobsite. What are you going to write on while you are in your production meeting or meeting with the client?
I have found this system to be highly productive for me, because I can bring the entire cab commander inside the office and pay bills or make phone calls from the days notes.
Just my 2 cents...
Ive looked at it to , looks to melike it would be awkward for writing , I have a smaller version for orginising holding drinks etc
I use one of these to write on

or one of these
http://www.shoplet.com/office/db/OIC83200.html
I have them both sometimes devote the first one to a large project and use the second for everything else
I can take them into the site if I need to or into the office or home if I want to work there

Cag,
I've had that one for 10 years now in my F-250 and it's the best thing I ever bought. Go for it, you'll love it.
I have run the gammit in this area. The one from Duluth is a common one. I have one in a truck. If you are using it once a week it is fine. But for daily use it simply is not built well.
The aluminum clip board/box deal work well if you only write in your truck. But I found if you go into your clients house and lay it on a table you have to be super careful not to scratch the surfaces. So I now equip our trucks with a similar unit that is plastic construction from Office Depot. Little cheaper too.
For the really good stuff in truck office check out http://www.americanvan.com. Nice stuff, pricey but good quality. I have a friend that bought one and has it in his third truck. The best set up I have personally had was in one of my box trucks and I built it. But you don't have enough room in a pickup. DanT
Niel,Check out the current JLCOur man Sonny Lykos has a short article on his "truck office"He's got a similar unit to what you are lookin for.I don't Know what I am doing
But
I am VERY good at it!!
Thanks everyone, I'll check out the JLC article and the american van web-site
what about us lefties?
Move to England?
my 05 f150 fx4 came with a console big enough to hold 2 thick phone books plus a 1" thick local book , spare change holder , kleenex holder ,flash light , shifter lever on top plus 2 cup holders front and rear , pockets in all four doors for maps , papers etc
the front seats have pockets behind each good for other papers or clip boards & a tray on the dash good for pencils glasses etc
under the rear seat i stow first aid kit booster cables tow rope etc
the console is quite strong as my 110 lb dog stands on it to stick his head ouy the sun roof and scare snots out of people who dont see him first due to the tinted windows around his seat ( the rear one)
