Ever hear of using Tri-Sodium Phosphate to eliminate creosote when making a fire in a fireplace? Was told to use about 2 tsps. and the creosote would fall off the chimney and burn up in the fire. I assume they mean to put it on the logs before starting the fire, or maybe while it’s roaring – that part wasn’t made clear. Never heard of it. Somehow I’m not sure it makes sense. Anyone?

They make (or used to) a product that is supposed to burn off cresote. It's a little log of some magic chemical (pixie dust I think). Don't know if it works.
