I left the tubes outside on the deck and burned several redwood 2×6’s and almost clean through a joist. It was lucky the homeowner noticed smoke coming from the tubes. I checked online and they recommend covering the tubes if the plastic cover on the roof is removed. There is no mention of fire danger during construction.
I don’t trust the diffuser to prevent this problem once installed. Has anyone else lit a house on fire with one of these skylights???
Now I know.
