I need to glue some pieces of wood to hard plastic. What is the best glue (epoxy?) to use? I haven’t tried to glue to the hard, shiney plastic for several years. Back when, I didn’t have good luck. I am hoping there is a newer product that works on the plastic. Thanks.

The main question is what kind of plastic? Generally any gooey glue (like traditional model glue) that works on plastic will be at least halfway decent on wood, but thin solvent glues (that you paint on with a brush) will not work very well.
But the type of glue you can use depends on the type of plastic. Model glues work fine for plain polystyrene, but not so well for other plastics.
Contact Cement
Spray can, with a very, very strong bias to the 3M products.

test this.
PLPremium urethane glue and scuff up the plastic with sandpaper.
the nail you often stuff in the tube sticks to the nail, the spout, and most anything else the ooze touches.
I've glued pvc to steel posts along with wood shims when covering columns. Worked well.
